Il trattamento dell’ulcera varicosa comporta non solo la terapia locale, ma anche l’interazione con il paziente, le problematiche psicologiche legate alla malattia e le sue limitazioni. Conoscerle ed affrontarle può fare la differenza tra guarigione e fallimento terapeutico. Abbiamo condotto una revisione della letteratura sull’argomento dal 2013 al 2023 utilizzando parole chiave “ulcera venosa”, “psicologia”, “qualità di vita” e “sintomi”; abbiamo selezionato 33 lavori che soddisfacevano i criteri di ricerca. L’impatto fisico e psicologico dell’ulcera hanno dimostrato un’influenza importante sulla qualità di vita dei pazienti; il dolore e la depressione sono risultati i fattori predominanti, il rapporto con il medico, la nurse e l’attivazione del “counseling” sono fondamentali nell’ambito del trattamento. Comprendere le difficoltà psicologiche del paziente, assumere un corretto approccio nei confronti dei famigliari e del personale di supporto appaiono come fattori chiave per il trattamento e l’aderenza alla terapia.
